Your Guide to Cooking Frozen French Toast Sticks

French Toast Sticks

The smell of hot and delicious French toast sticks is enough to get you out of bed in the morning! This yummy breakfast food is great on its own or served with butter and syrup.

How to Cook Frozen French Toast Sticks?

Frozen French toast sticks can be cooked using a toaster oven, microwave, or an air fryer. They can be prepared directly from the freezer, meaning there’s no need to thaw them. The cooking process itself depends on which appliance you decide to use.

Using an (Toaster) Oven

Preheat your (toaster) oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. This should take about 15 minutes.

While you’re waiting for the oven to heat up, arrange the frozen French toast sticks on a baking sheet. They should be in a single layer and not overlapping.

Once the oven is nice and hot, place your baking tray with the French toast sticks on the rack in the middle of the oven. Let them cook for about 4 minutes, then use tongs or a spatula to flip over. Cook for another 4 minutes until heated through.

Using a Microwave

Place the frozen French toast sticks on a microwave-safe plate. Do not pile on top of each other but arrange in one layer.

Microwave on high for one minute and 15 seconds–you do not need to turn these halfway. Since microwaves do not always heat evenly, check the French toast sticks to ensure they are all heated. If still cool in areas, simply pop back in the microwave and cook for another 15 to 30 seconds.

Using an Air Fryer

Set the frozen French toast sticks on your air fryer tray or in the basket. Do not overcrowd the air fryer as this prevents proper cooking.

Turn the air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and cook for about 3 to 4 minutes. Use a spatula or tongs to turn the French toast sticks over and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes.

Homemade Frozen French Toast Sticks

You can make mouth-watering French toast sticks at home, from scratch! They’re easy to make and are a great option for a quick breakfast or snack.

Gather Your Ingredients

You will need the following ingredients for your homemade french toast sticks:

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons of milk
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons of white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of butter or margarine

Prepare the Ingredients

Cut each piece of bread into four equal slices. You can remove the crusts first, if desired.

In a medium bowl, beat together the egg, milk, and salt.

In another medium bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon.

Cook the French Toast Sticks

Place the butter in a frying pan. While waiting for it to melt, take each stick of bread and dip it in the egg mixture, giving it a bit of a shake to remove any excess. Then roll it in the cinnamon sugar mixture and place in the hot frying pan.

Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until golden brown on the bottom. Flip each stick and continue cooking for another 2 to 3 minutes until done.

If enjoying these right away, remove them to a plate and add syrup or powdered sugar if desired.

Put in the Freezer

You can make these homemade french toast sticks to freeze for later. Once they have finished cooking, simply remove them to a plate or wire rack to cool completely. Then place in a plastic freezer bag and seal tightly to avoid freezer burn.

When you’re ready to eat, just remove them from the freezer and cook as directed above–either in the toaster oven, microwave, or air fryer.

Ready, Set, Toast Sticks!

Whether you purchase frozen french toast sticks from the store or make your own at home, these tasty treats are a great option for a quick breakfast or snack.

Can You Put French Toast Sticks in The Toaster?

Store-bought french toast sticks can be made in the toaster since they come in a pull-apart fashion. Toast on a medium setting to ensure they heat through but do not burn. Homemade french toast sticks, which are already sliced into sticks, are challenging to cook in the toaster as they can easily get stuck.

Can You Fry Frozen French Toast Sticks?

Frozen french toast sticks can be fried in an air fryer, a frying pan, or a deep fryer. To fry in a frying pan, cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes, turning halfway through cooking time. French toast sticks can be fried in the deep fryer until they become golden brown.
